Gorgeous Victorian-1950s mother of pearl leaves necklace. These are often referred to as 'military wives' necklaces because from Victorian times until the 1950s they were often brought back by servicemen from the middle east. I have researched them ever since I inherited my mother's which my father bought in Israel in the early 1950s. Beautifully carved mother of pearl leaves are stitched on to a length of braid/lace & finished with tiny seed beads & a pearl clasp. They were worn at the base of the neck, as in photo 6 & are very stylish. An eye-catching necklace in beautiful original condition, I have carefully cleaned it. stunning 1950S Mother Of Pearl Sweetheart Necklace
