This wonderful mug with a crisp etched exterior is handmade & hand-decorated. The subsequent bisque & glaze-firings provide a clean & simple yet very expressive mottle. The handcrafted forms, in combination with the flecked clay & the manually-applied detailing with coloured clay help me create these ceramic objects with tones & textures I feel are grounded & deep & rich. I would like to invite you to see the pieces in this series as individual elements that can be combined to create a variety of potential collections. The different pieces compliment each other & can be used to create sets which blend harmoniously yet bring out a sort of mellow delight in each object. That's what I decided, anyway, after spending time mixing & matching & observing them in different light. What do you think? What different combinations most resonate with you? Capacity: 390 Milliliters I really, really love working with this particular clay! When it is fired the brown flecking invisible initially gently emerges through the coloured clay slip & glaze used to decorate the piece. Two fields of contrasting colour meet to form a banded horizon, creating a contrasting background for a pattern of repeating etched lines. One thing I really enjoy is the changing character of the flecked & coloured surfaces in different kinds of light direct & indirect sun, different times of day, natural, artificial, etc. The rich variety of looks provided by the changing light gives pieces like this an additional character. I'd definitely be curious about your own observations. Dimensions (approx): Height: 9cm Diameter: 8.5cm Volume: 390ml, 13.2 fl oz (all sizes & capacities are approximate) A firing temperature of 1230 degrees centigrade makes these objects strong & durable. Please note: each mug is handmade and, by virtue of the nature of the processes involved in its creation, unique. Therefore, the mug you receive may vary slightly from the pictures & some 'makers marks' may be present. I hope that, like me, you find that this inevitable feature of truly handcrafted work provides each piece with its own individual character. The mug is dishwasher & microwave safe, although I recommend hand washing whenever possible as it is kinder to the glaze. Packaging: As an avid believer in safeguarding our environment, I don't use any plastic in my packaging. Instead, I've researched, tested & now utilise effective yet environmentally-friendly alternatives. :-) Postage: I've recently observed some severe delays with the items I've posted to the United States when using the US postal service. For the time being, I have switched to using FedEx when posting to the USA because doing so has proven to be significantly more timely & reliable. This way I'm in a much better position to assure you that the mug(s) will be in your hands as soon as possible.
