This lovely, modern, graphic multicolour mug is wheel-thrown, hand manipulated & hand-decorated, then bisque & glaze-fired. The handcrafted form, in combination with the flecked clay & manually applied patterns, help me achieve the unique, rustic yet contemporary character of this ceramic object. Capacity: 380 Milliliters I really, really love working with this particular clay! When it is fired the brown flecking invisible initially gently emerges through the coloured clay slip & glaze used to decorate the piece. I find that it works really well with the graphic patterns I create with custom stencils, providing extra interest & depth. This is one of my favourite variations of a design pattern I'm continuing to explore One thing I really enjoy is the changing character of the flecked & coloured surfaces in different kinds of light direct & indirect sun, different times of day, natural, artificial, etc. The rich variety of looks provided by the changing light gives pieces like this an additional character. I'd definitely be curious about your own observations. Dimensions (approx): Height: 9cm Diameter: 8.5cm Volume: 380ml, 12.8 fl oz (all sizes & capacities are approximate) A firing temperature of 1230 degrees centigrade makes these objects strong & durable. Please note: each mug is handmade and, by virtue of the nature of the processes involved in its creation, unique. Therefore, the mug you receive may vary slightly from the pictures & some 'makers marks' may be present. I hope that, like me, you find that this inevitable feature of truly handcrafted work provides each piece with its own individual character. The mug is dishwasher & microwave safe, although I recommend hand washing whenever possible as it is kinder to the glaze. Packaging: As an avid believer in safeguarding our environment, I don't use any plastic in my packaging. Instead, I've researched, tested & now utilise effective yet environmentally-friendly alternatives. :-) Postage: I've recently observed some severe delays with the items I've posted to the United States when using the US postal service. For the time being, I have switched to using FedEx when posting to the USA because doing so has proven to be significantly more timely & reliable. This way I'm in a much better position to assure you that the mug(s) will be in your hands as soon as possible.
