A resin owl for your fall theme art collection. The owl base is mdf wood & has my signature glass gems, glass glitter, pigments & I used a gold leaf pen for veining & edging. I start most of my designs with glass gems because glass does not fade. There are 3 layers of resin for depth & the size is 7 tall & 5 wide with a sawtooth hanger on the back. A ton of work & materials go into producing these resin art pieces & they are made to last for years! To create these sculptures takes lots of space & takes days to prepare the area, gather supplies & plan the design. This is the process... Day 1 - Add glass gems, glass glitter, orange glitter & first layer of resin. Day 2 - Add layer of resin with red pigment paste, bronze & copper red pigments. Day 3 - Clear layer of resin over whole piece. Day 4 - Paint lines & edges with gold leafing paint markers. Day 5 - Add hanger & sign back. As an artist I have used many medium types & resin is by far the most difficult medium I have used because of the short working time (30-40 minutes before it sets up), the personal protection gear needed, need of a super clean environment, high risk of failure & the cost of resin alone is very expensive. But resin has a mesmerizing beauty of depth, transparency, durability, & you can create so many functional things with resin. To sum it up, the bigger the art piece is, the more it costs to produce overall so the risk of failure is greater as resin does what resin wants!
