A beautiful & unique mantle vase made in Italy using the Sgraffito technique. Sgraffito (in Italian to scratch) is a decorating pottery technique produced by applying layers of color or colors (underglazes or colored slips) to leather hard pottery & then scratching off parts of the layer(s) to create contrasting images, patterns & texture & reveal the clay color underneath. It has a beautiful bird & flowers design & a deep green glaze across the handles, edges & base with a beautiful scalloped edge around the top. This would be a stunning vessel to display fresh stems or even used as a planter for spring flowers. Stamped on the base with 'K102 Italy' Measurements; Height: 14cm Length: 38.5cm Width: 15cm Vintage condition: in very good condition, there are some chips to the glaze which is common on this type & age of ceramic, however, we don't feel that these chips defer from the beauty of the piece at all!
