Markel Electric Products (MEP) was founded by Joseph Markel (1888-1966) in 1920. Markel was born in Lithuania & came to the United States in 1891. The company was located at 145 Seneca Street in Buffalo, New York. A century ago, this was a bustling industrial area. Down the street was the thriving Larkin Company, & their globally famous Administration Building designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. This listing includes: ONE 5-bulb chandelier! FOUR matching sconces! The fixtures are cast-iron, & exquisitely molded. The polychrome finish is a deep gold (with a subtle copper hue), with olive & red accents. Stunning! The set is remarkably original. The chandelier retains its finial (this is incredibly rare as the finial just slips on, so is easily lost), & its original & highly fabulous ceiling canopy. All the wiring is new, & the vertical chandelier wire is cloth covered like the original. Nice. NEED MORE? I also have listed a 4-bulb chandelier & foyer pendant! This set is ready to hang, & comes with all the mounting hardware needed! DETAILS: The fixtures accept standard base 60W bulbs (not included). Flame-style LED bulbs would look good. COLOR: See above. SIZE: The chandelier hangs down about 31-1/2-inches & is 15-inches wide. I can remove up to 11-inches of chain; I can add chain. The sconces are 9-1/4-inches high (minus bulbs). They project 4-3/4-inches. The circular back part is just over 3-3/4-inches. CONDITION: The only issue is a small repair to one sconce. This isn't obvious. The sockets, paper insulators, & wiring are new. The original chandelier chain was corroded (this is common). The new chain precisely matches the original in terms of scale & shape.
