Description
A stained glass pendant light shade constructed using vertical strips of clear glass. The vertical strips of glass have a step pattern design which follows around each side of the shade. This lightshade measures approximately 21cm (8 1/4) high x 15cm (6) wide x 15cm (6) deep. The industrial shade range has been developed to be used with funky filament light bulbs which look beautiful inside these clear glass shades. The shades can also be used with clear glass light bulbs which will create amazing shadows on the walls when illuminated. They can give a plain wall the appearance of some texture. Please note this listing is for the light shade only, & no bulbs are included in the sale. The shade is designed to be used with various sized light fixtures, & each shade comes with a free adaptor ring. The adaptor ring reduces the centre hole diameter from 4.2cm to 2.8cm. This makes it suitable for most pendant light fittings. It is designed to be hung but could be placed on a lamp if the base is strong enough to support the weight of the glass. Each shade weighs approximately 1kg. To clean, use warm soapy water & a soft cloth. The Glass Process I trace the shapes of the design onto the glass using a specially made light box which illuminates the glass from behind. With the shapes traced out I will use a specialist glass scorer which creates a weak point in the glass. Some carefully applied pressure will cause the glass to break along the scored lines. If any excess occurs, I use my glass grinder to smooth the glass back to the correct shape of the design. The glass is then washed, dried & I apply a special copper tape to every side of each piece of glass. I assemble all of the taped pieces into the correct design & use a soldering iron to apply solder onto the tape. The piece is then washed again to remove any corrosives & dried. The final stage is to transform the solder with a chemical which turns it black & then clean everything ready for purchase.
