This unusual handmade fused glass soap dish will add a note of style to any bathroom. The four copper starfish add to a seaside feel in the bathroom . The soap dish is made from hand cut pieces of glass, assembled & fired in my kiln at home. I have used clear transparent glass together with copper oxide to create the sea & have cut out starfish from a copper sheet. This has been fused together to give a lovely glossy finish. Once fused the soap dish is then slumped in a second firing onto a ceramic mould to create a gentle curve. The soap dish measures 15cm by 8cm & has two glass rods to prevent soap sitting in water. The glass is 6mm thick & has been annealed by holding it at a high temperature & cooling overnight for maximum strength. It would make a striking gift for a seaside lover.
