Letterpress Print - Beer Street Hogarth Beer Street was one of two prints issued in 1751 by English artist William Hogarth in support of what would become the Gin Act. Designed to be viewed alongside Gin Lane, it depicts the merits of drinking beer as a contrast to the evils of the consumption of gin. At Glasgow Press we are preserving & maintaining our vintage printing presses & equipment along with our knowledge of every facet of print. Our prints preserve a record of events, moods, & the mindsets of a time & place. Letterpress printed on our vintage Vandercook press & Heidelberg platens from etched plates. Each colour of ink is pulled by hand & every impression is unique. Prints are blind embossed with the Glasgow Press printer's mark. Letterpress Print - Beer Street, Hogarth
