I grew up in Wallingford & it was a pleasure to make this composition, including all the important & public buildings of this historic market town. I took photos on a sunny day & spent a long time arranging everything. I put the bridge in the middle as it is so important to the town. Using only black & white to show all textures & materials used in buildings is such a great challenge - the bricks & tiles were my favourite thing to ink. I drew this detailed image in pencil before inking with a glass dip-pen & permanent drawing ink. It comes with an explanatory label if there are any buildings you can't identify.
