An antique Aubusson 7 century tapestry cushion - pillow This pillow is made from a border panel of tapestry dating from the mid 1600s. Hand woven in wools & silks. The central image is of an armorial bird within a shield. Good colours & condition - minor old repairs commensurate with age. The tapestry has been backed with a woven fusible interfacing for stability before being applied to gold cotton velvet - also used for the back. 19th century gold metal flat trim top & bottom & later tassel trim each side. New feather cushion pad. Size: 16 ins (40.6cm) by 16.5ins (41.9cm) - measured seam to seam. This is the one of several from this border listed.
