Presented is a fabulous Irish sterling silver mug. This piece dates to 1715. The cup is very well made from thick & heavy silver throughout. The handle of the cup is nicely scrolled. The interior has an attractive gold wash. The exterior is nicely hand-chased in designs of clusters of grapes, vines & grape leaves. The exterior has a blank cartouche, perfect for a monogram or presentation. This piece is hallmarked on the underside with the crowned harp mark for Dublin, the date letter Y for 1715, & the maker's mark for David King. This piece is in great condition. There has probably been a monogram removal to the cartouche on the side, but the silver is still very thick & the mug could still be re-engraved. There are no splits, no breaks, no monograms, & no repairs. The mug stands approximately 4 1/2 inches tall measured at the highest point of the handle.
