This beautiful lamp shade is hand made in our studio in South Australia Artist: Thomas Jangala Rice Story: This painting tells the story of the Jarlji Jukurrpa (frog Dreaming) from Jarljikirlangu, a place to the west of Mt. Denison. Jarljikirlangu means 'belonging to frog'. This place belongs to Japaljarri/Jungarrayi men & Napaljarri/Nungarrayi women. Jarljikurlangu is a large creek that is dry for most of the year. When it rains it becomes like a swamp, a big water course. The 'jarlji' (frog) burrow underground & hibernate during the dry season until the rainy season comes, so the 'jarlji' come out of the ground & sit down there. After the rain the 'jarlji' frogs croak at night. Women dig for them to cook & then eat them. Frogs can be a very important food source in dry years as they can be found lying together in the soft, moist soil found along many dry watercourses in central Australia. Lampshade size recommendations: - 15cm diameter (Size XS) Often found on small lamp bases & nursery lamp bases - 20cm diameter (Size S) Found on many small table lamps & bedside table lamps. -25cm diameter (Size S) Found on many small table lamps & bedside table lamps - 30cm diameter (Size M) This size is found on many table lamps & bedside table lamps or small ceiling lamps. - 35cm diameter (Size L) This size is found on many large table lamps - 40cm diameter (Size XL) Often found on very large table lamps (Please note that this size will have an extra seam in the fabric to allow for the right width to make the shade) - Floor lamps 40cm diameter, 45cm diameter or 50cm diameter. (Please note that this size will have an extra seam in the fabric to allow for the right width to make the shade) - Ceiling lamps All our designs & sizes are also available in a ceiling lamp orientation. Will your lampshade fit my base? Our lampshades fit standard Australian, UK, European & New Zealand lamp bases. A reducer is included. The lampshade fitting has an internal diameter of 40mm (E27) or 29mm (B22, E14) with the reducer. On request we are also able to provide a US finial harp fitting reducer (please message us to order!)
