Description
The origin of the name Boucherouite The Boucherouite rug is certainly the most original Berber rug since it is, as its name suggests, hand-woven with recycled fabrics. Indeed, the Boucherouite rug owes its name to the Arabic bu sherwit sens, which means a torn piece of used clothing. These pieces of torn fabric of all kinds are assembled using an elaborate weaving technique that allows you to create any geometric shape while giving free rein to your imagination. We can thus find diamonds, squares, triangles, or a multicolored mixture without a predefined shape on each carpet depending on the mood of the Berber weaver who designed it. But if the shapes vary, there is one thing that can be found on all boucherouite rugs: color! The multicolored assemblage obtained, among other things, has earned the boucherouite carpet the nickname of table carpet. From poor man's rug to a true work of art Each boucherouite rug is a true artistic composition, & its richness can be measured all the more by taking into account the poverty of the material used & the lack of a model for its creation. Indeed, unlike European tapestry methods whereby weavers work from a pattern, the boucherouite rug is only the brainchild of the Berber weaver who designed it. It's in a way a reflection of her life, her current mood & her sensitivity. Each rug is therefore a unique & incomparable piece, the weaving of which takes several days or even several weeks. As a result, the boucherouite rug is sometimes compared to an artist's painting, & it is increasingly found hanging on the wall despite its original place being on the floor. Moreover, some gallery owners do not hesitate to make real exhibitions of them & have made their prices soar, so if you are looking for a boucherouite rug to hang on the wall or to decorate the floor of
