Description
This vase is made of stoneware clay, thrown on a potter's wheel, altered & fired to 2400 in a gas reduction kiln. It is designed to present flowers on the wall. It is easy to display & arrange a small amount of flowers. It is not meant to stand on a table as the base is purposefully small. They find themselves into hallways,entryways,and bathrooms. I have a pair on either side of a mirror. This piece is handmade of Stoneware clay, high fired & durable. Individually thrown on a potters wheel, its form grows from a ball of clay that is opened up & given shape by hands applying pressure & direction with & against the centrifugal force of its spinning. I enjoy the exploration & discovery that takes place after a pot comes off the wheel, creating altered shapes: manipulations of the clay that transforms round into oval, round into square & round into off round in many subtle ways. These pots are then fired in a gas reduction kiln to about 2400. I use both satin matt surfaces & active running glazes as well. I aim for pieces with a natural, organic sense. These pots can be used in an oven, microwave & dishwasher. With ALL pottery, care must be taken not to shock the clay. General Care Instructions: Baking pieces: room temperature ingredients, placed in a cold oven, up to 350,removed to a dry draft free surface. Teapots: warm with hot tap water before filling slowly with boiling water. Do not go directly from refrigerator to microwave With minimal care you will have years & years of easy use & enjoyment.
