This serving bowl is a fantastic example of traditional Andalusian craftsmanship meets modernity. Handmade, handpainted, & glazed in Cortegana (Huelva - Spain) using the traditional spoon technique, this terracotta serving bowl is the perfect everyday piece for your home. This style is called the Spoon technique & originates from Cortegana, in Huelva, Andalusia. It was born in the 1930s & consists of a spoon with the tip of the bowl cut, the potter uses one spoon for each color & spins the plate while pouring the color, creating amazing spiro graphic type designs. in a village with 20 potters by the late XIX century, there is only Enrique left, he learned from the last Cortegana potter. He withstands the modernization of crafts & still works with a small pottery wheel & a minimal oven, his collections are small in number, & soon when he retires, they will be a piece of museum of a craft that barely reached 100 years. This bowl is perfect as a serving platter or a fruit bowl, the back is unglazed for that rustic charm feel. This bowl has also been prepared to be hanged. Combine it with other Huelva pieces or any other tableware for that mix-and-match fun.
