Handmade & handpainted serving bowl with a freehand-painted fish. Each bowl is different, with different colors, & similar designs. We asked Jos Miguel to add some paint splatters in the same colors to give the collection a more coherent look. Each painted fish is different but the main colors are blue&purple & a blue, green, & yellow combo, following the collection colors. We will choose one for you unless you have a preferred one & it's still available. Made with local white clay & painted freehand, you can actually see the brush strokes, the stops, the doubts, & the paint-it-over lines, everything you look for in an artisan piece. Jos Miguel is a skillful potter, the bowl itself is fault-less & the painting is fantastic. These bowls are handmade & handpainted by Jos Miguel in a small village in Almera, my grandparent's village actually. Jos Miguel is the head of the last pottery of the town, which was the main village of the area for this kind of craft & trade as its surroundings are pure clay & karst. This village whose name in Arabic means clay pot is in the Tabernas desert, the only natural desert of Europe which amazingly borders the Mediterranean Sea (southeast of Spain), this is where Jos Miguel gets all his inspiration. While the traditional motifs are flowers, roosters, & geometric patterns, Jos Miguel sourced his inspiration & combined traditional & contemporary design. We created more pieces with him you can see in our shop. Jos Miguel recommends you clean them with mild soap by hand although you can put it in the dishwasher, the artisan character of this piece will survive longer with gentler care.
