Description
Frank Guille was foremost a furniture designer & later teacher & Head of Furniture Design at the RCA London. Born in 1927, he was taught by Robin Day & John Cole at the Beckenham School of Art. Following a spell of service with the Royal Navy, Frank was taught Furniture Design by Gordon Russell, also Danish designer Kaare Klint, who are amongst the most important ‘modern’ furniture designers. Following two years of experience with modernist architect Wells Coates he set up his own design company. Guille’s furniture designs were led by his belief in function, utility & simplicity. His elegant furniture was visually simple & refined & he took commissions from Heals & Kandya. These scarcely seen 'Program' stools were designed by Frank Guille for Kandya in 1958 & are much sought after by interior designers & collectors alike. These are the higher versions & are sold in original vintage condition. The original stove enamelled white paintwork has one or two very minor chips, there is a small 'nick' to the vinyl at the front of one stool & some scuffing to the top corners of the beech back supports. Three of the plastic foot terminals are also missing. {Please see the photos} I hasten to add that none of this is detrimental to the function & overall appearance of them. Collection is welcome from our premises in Llandeilo, Carmarthenshire, Wales or courier delivery can be arranged throughout mainland UK.
