There was a general boredom with Victorian furniture at this time as it had become very ornate & in many cases heavy & bulbous & something fresh & elegant was sought after. The original nests of tables date back to the Georgian period & this particular set are often referred to as Sheraton revival. They are made from solid mahogany & have a nice moulded edge & a cross banding in satinwood. The legs have fine turning to them & all slot together other easily. The top table measures 61 high x 40 wide x 27cm deep. The middle table measures 58 high x 35 wide x 25cm deep. The smallest measures 57 cm high x 29 cm wide x 22.5 deep. All the tables have their original french polish, which is in good condition with only minor blemishes, particularly on the corners where they have been handled a bit roughly. Please bear in mind that you will need to use coasters for your drinks as heat & liquid damage the surface of the polish & leave unsightly marks.
