Tall Ceramic Travel Mug, 700 ml Beige & Blue Travel Mug With Ceramic Lid & Handle If you're in a hurry to get to work but you need that first cup of coffee or herbal tea to get you going, this travel mug with a ceramic lid is perfect for you. You can take it with you on your commute to work. It has a lid with a special locking feature which prevents it from being removed while in the locked position. When the lid is on, it can be turned 90 degrees to line up the notch in the lid with one of the notches of the mug allowing you to drink from the exposed opening. When the lid is turned less than 90 degrees, it is in a locked position & the openings are covered. Being handmade, the lid will not hermetically seal the mug, but the beverage will not splash out as it travels with you. You can drink from the mug while holding it in your right or left hand. Travel Mug No. 1 is made from a gray speckled stoneware clay & glazed with beige matte & glossy green glazes. Travel Mug No. 2 is made from a brown stoneware clay & glazed with beige matte & shiny green glazes. Travel Mug No. 3 is made from a brown stoneware clay & glazed with beige matte & shiny blue glazes. I have recently used these clay & glaze combinations on other items in my shop & each item is a truly unique piece. This mug is slightly heavier than a regular mug ( approx. 800 g / 28 oz / 1.75 lbs ) not only because of its size but also because of the weight of the lid. I try to make both parts as light as possible in order to minimize this additional weight. I think out of all the items that I have in my shop Travel Mugs are the most complicated to make. Getting the lid to fit perfectly so that it is not too loose & not too tight, has taken me a long time ( & many failures ), to master. I just recently, ( Nov. 2020 ), shipped Travel Mugs 4 to Jeff who, after purchasing one for himself last year, decided that this year his parents & in-laws each deserve to enjoy one too. It is glazed with lead-free & food safe glazes & is ideal for use in the oven & microwave but not over an open flame. It is dishwasher safe.
