Description
This wood spirit is a handcarved piece made out of cottonwood bark from the Wasatch mountains. It is ready to be hung on the wall or laid on a table anywhere in the house, at the cabin or in the office. 18 x 4.5 x 3.5 Each carving is 100% unique & starts its journey once I pick it off an old cottonwood tree. Every piece of bark is different & I work with the flow of each one to bring out a face that is hidden. I usually start by carving a groove for the eyes & from there I shape the nose. Next, I cut the beard into the bark which brings out the nose & creates a mouth. Once all the rough cuts are done I move onto the finishing details like carving the eyes, the nostrils & the hair. Once the carving is finished I spray each piece with a clear glaze to bring out the grain. For the final touches I sign & date each carving, as well as install a way to hang the carving.
