An art deco 9ct gold back & front locket marked 9CT BACK & FRONT on the reverse. Back & front lockets are made from 9ct gold on the front & back with some metal parts. The front & back are entirely gold, but the edges, the inside rim, the hinge & the removable frames are gold plated metal. This was a very popular way of constructing lockets, gold is quite soft & easily bent, so the metal frame offers a bit more stability. The internal photo frames are missing, otherwise in good used condition, snaps & holds shut nicely. 2.2 (7/8 of an inch) excluding the loop & bail cms x 2 cms (3/4 of an inch). The locket is available with or without a new 46 cms (18 inch) 14ct gold filled chain. Gold filled jewellery is much better quality than gold plated, it is made with a thicker layer of gold & won't tarnish.
