Serpentine Gustavian Country Style Grey Hand Painted Vintage Sideboard / Cabinet / Cupboard / Desk / Basin Base With Blue & White Toile Patterned Interior The exterior of this multi-functional mahogany Gustavian Country style cabinet/sideboard has been hand painted in Annie Sloan's French Linen, while the interior has been painted in a blue & white French toile pattern. It has been sealed with clear wax. The exterior has, using our ageing technique, been aged distressed adding character & charm to the piece. We cannot figure out what it was used for as the top lifts up & expose a writing shelf that can be pulled out, revealing a deep area/hiding place - please see photos. This area can be locked from inside the actual cabinet & if the doors then are locked this "hiding place" will be safely locked. The key for the door only locks the door in place, We have not tried to push it round enough to remove it. We have hand painted a blue & white French toile pattern on the interior of the doors & the lid. When we found this piece it was covered in white paint. We have tried to remove as much as possible before we repainted it, but there are places where the paint just would not come off, so we want to point out that the paint work due to this has a rustic effect. We removed the paint from the writing shelf, but there are some some marks/scratches on the sides of the shelf. It is in a good vintage condition, but with the blemishes pointed out above. As with most vintage furniture, there are some marks & dents from its long life that, in our opinion, only adds to the character & charm of the piece. Please see photos. Perfect in your dining room, kitchen, living room, hallway, study or why not use it as a basin base in your bathroom.
