Linen Tunic Top / Poncho / Opera Cape / Silk Top / Robe / Alternative Clothing / Hand Painted Silk A versatile little cape top that is designed to be easily worn over your day or evening clothes. The perfect addition to any wardrobe, our garments are easy to wear as we specialize in clothing that fits across sizes & flatters ALL body types - using cuts & fabrics that drape beautifully & put comfort first. This is a handmade garment uses vintage silk that I've unpicked from Japanese kimono & painted by hand, the design has been inspired by traditional textile art. The motif depicts an abstract pattern that sits on the across the front, back & side panels in deep color tones of wine red & black. (See the 'Fabrics' section for more info on the construction process of this jacket) We take fabrics & construction & design seriously here at Clothing for Change, so we promise only the very best of quality. THE DETAILS: - Breathable medium-weight linen cotton blend fabric - Layered vintage habotai silk sewn on top of the linen with hand-painted art work to create the border - Back 'v' opening for a comfortable fit - Hook & Eye fastening at back neck - Flattering cropped front with a lower back hem (see 'measurements' section for details) - Beautiful drape & flowing movement to the fabric - Cropped cut - All natural fibers - Hand-sewn garment - One of a kind, wearable art - Handmade & completely unique item, made by me in my studio. The fit is oversized but if you think its too big or long we can either alter it for you or make one to order. -@@@@-@@@@- FABRICS: - Silk Boarder: I hand-painted the silk on this jacket myself using gutta & dye techniques. The motif depicts a pattern of abstract pattern taking inspiration on Aboriginal art which sits on the across the front, back & side panels in deep color tones of wine red & black, the silk paint has a luminous quality as the colors absolutely POP! As I unpick traditional Japanese kimono to reuse the fabric in our work I always have lots of the white silk linings left over, instead of throwing them out I thought it best to recycle them by hand-painting the silk taking inspiration from the design work used to create traditional fabric designs from across the globe. The dyes & gutta (the resist that makes the white outlines) have been set by a steaming process which means they are permanently fixed & wont run or fade. The vintage silk is in fabulous condition which you can hopefully see in the photographs. - This top only uses vintage & deadstock fabrics. - Our construction process doesn't
