This Red-tailed Hawk shot was taken during a photo trip in June. We were driving alongside a causeway when I spotted the hawk up in a tree overlooking the water. We stayed to get shots when all of a sudden it took off & flew down to the ground to catch prey. It ended up missing its target. The hawk just sat there looking around until it finally gave up & flew back up into the tree. This was an unexpected but awesome encounter.
