Very rare line of cup by Margareta & a departure for her not only in terms of colour, but also motif. I havent seen any other decoration with birds from her, as she usually focuses on plantlife. I haven't heard of a particular intent regarding the radical change in colour (the SA-1 model colour scheme tended towards greens or browns) but it is probably not a coincidence that Paul Hoff also produced his only blue & red cup decor Japan in the same period. We know that Stig Lindberg's philosophy was to cluster & group his products (see below), so maybe this was the start of something...
