Perfect in a French or musical decor, as this is a portrait of Madame de Dugazon, a French operatic mezzo-soprano, actress, & dancer; this diminutive framed portrait is 5 1/2 in total height, 4 5/8 in total width, 5/8 in total depth, & the image is 3 1/2 X 2 3/4. The frame is as interesting as the subject matter; I couldn't figure out what it is, so I put it under a magnifying glass at sixteen times magnification. At first glance it appears to be celluloid, bone, or ivory... but it isn't. It is a wooden frame with a light skim coat of gezzo on top of it, then striated with a faux finish to mimic bone or ivory.
