This super cute ceramic wall hanging would look great hanging in the entrance to your house, in your studio , on your kitchen wall or maybe in your child's nursery. Where ever he may be he'll surely brighten your day! The ceramic wall hanging was made using a hand building technique known as pinching. I use white clay with 1% grog which I feel enhances depth to my work. While sculpting the face i feel that my work comes to life, whether they be happy, sad , deep in thought or hiding behind their mask or a King/ Queen waiting to pass judgement over their court. ... After I have finished making the wall hanging I then paint it with copper oxide ,after it has dried I take a damp sponge & remove the majority of the oxide, leaving elements of oxide to enhance the expression. I then paint over the oxide with colored engobes. My work is then fired to 1186degrees. I do not use glaze on my work as I feel the piece has more depth without glaze. As you can see in the photograph there is a hole in the rear were it can be hung on a nail.
