Tulips in the Sun is an 11x11 inch handprinted linocut print. It is printed on acid-free archival paper with oil-based ink. Which means your piece of art will stay beautiful for a long time. There is a single hand torn edge on this paper, so actual size may vary slightly Because each piece is hand made each one will be unique! This is the beauty of buying a hand printed piece of art. Check out my Instagram @blackrivergoods to dive deeper into the process! The Story Living in Holland, MI means tulips are a big deal. I wanted to create a print that uniquely captured the beauty of tulips. There is also a country rustic element in this piece as I used inspiration from the barn quilts & patterns that I love finding as I drive through the countryside. The Printmaking Process Each block prints starts with a blank piece of lino or rubber block. I then sketch out my design, refine it, & then transfer that design to the block. Carving tools are then used to carefully carve out the design from the block. Once I am happy with the look, ink is then rolled onto the block & a piece of paper is pressed & rubbed into the ink. It's a time-consuming process, but it's all worth it when that paper is peeled away & the inky black image is revealed. Tulips in The Sun - Original Linocut Print
