The secret of arts & crafts is to mix pattern & print, these baubles work beautifully all mixed up & equally striking as the centrepiece of a theme. Manufacturing: These baubles have been made from recycled paper using a paper mache technique. The paper mch technique of using paper pulp for making decorative objects. The materials involved with this process are discarded paper, cloth, straw of rice plant, copper sulfate, which are mixed & made into a pulp. The paper, after immersing in water for 4-5 weeks, is taken out & made into a pulp & dried. The pulp is applied on moulds made of wood or brass. After this important stage, the pieces go through many more processes or drying, baking, smoothening, polishing, varnishing & cleaning until they are finally ready to be painted on. Distemper colours made with pigments & glue are used to paint the artwork in various colourful designs. About the Artisan: Hand-painted in rich colours by artisans in the Himalayan valleys of Kashmir, India. The tradition of the craft has been practised in the region since it was first introduced by Persian travellers in the 14th Century. This product supports artisans & their families living in the rural mountain areas of Kashmir, where opportunities are minimal.
