Large spherical stoneware vase by Ingeborg & Bruno Asshoff (circa 1960s). A multi-hued overflow glaze with mulberry & turquoise sections over olive, ochre & hazy grey with a very textured feel. The large spherical shape surprises with the small-holed mouth for just a few beautiful flower stems. in very good overall condition. The small maker's mark (triangular) is impressed on the underside which also bears a sticker from the Kunstkammer Kster Mnchengladbach art gallery. Upon request a video of the piece may be provided. About the Artists: Ingeborg (1919-1998) & Bruno (1914-2003) Asshoff, were a couple & co-founders of a ceramics workshop in Bochum Querenburg in 1948. Both had completed an apprenticeship with Helma Klett in Fredelsloh. The artists created ceramic works of international renown in their pottery over a period of fifty years. in 1994, both received an honorary prize for their German ceramics created over their life's work. The scope of her work ranges from the examination of traditional forms & motifs through experiments with Werkbund ideas & Bauhaus ideas to ever more free plastic sculpture in the 1960s & 1970s to the examination of porcelain & the study of geometric forms in the 1980s & 1990s.
