I roll out paper porcelain clay strips & ensure it is in the right state before I start free-forming it to avoid breaking or deforming. I make numerous pieces allowing my hand coordination to harmonise with the porcelain, responding to my intuition. I select the ones I feel happy with to fire & work further. This piece is a part of a new series with painted backgrounds. The edges are hand-painted with gold lustre. The final firing is 1260C in oxidation, making it weather & waterproof. It is framed & hangs like a painting. The three-dimensional surface interacts with the quality & level of light that falls onto it. A soft duster will be sufficient to dust the piece.
