Here is a soda-fired porcelain yunomi...that's a fancy ceramicist way of saying footed cup. It was fired to cone 10 in a soda kiln. It is lined with a clear glaze (appears white on the porcelain), so it shows off red wine or cocktails well. 10 fl. oz. approx 4.25x3.75x3.75 inches As always, food safe (no lead), dishwasher & microwave safe. It is generally recommended to hand-wash these, but I personally just put the ones I own in the dishwasher. Never use an acidic dishwasher detergent (like Limonene) with soda-fired ceramics. It will permanently etch the surface. The soda-firing process involves firing the work to cone 10 (2345F) in a special kiln that can resist corrosion. When we get near finishing temperature, we spray (or add in chunks) sodium carbonate (washing soda) & sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) into the kiln. This affects the surface of the clay & glaze, causing flashing (the orange or peach color), orange peel (the texture that resembles the skin of an orange), & causes the glazes to change their behavior (they will run & change color).
