Etsy - BAstuffHons Mid Century Large Studio Pottery Vase
Description
A fabulous large studio pottery vase with tall cylindrical tapering body, flared rim & light hooping on the neck. The stand out feature here is the glaze: a lustrous red tinted bronze base on top of which someone has poured a thick foamy raspberry coulis that has settled into large drips on the body of the vase, going as far as pooling out at the base in a couple of places - photo three. It's a bit of glaze drama with some thundery black & grey on the fringes of the raspberry red adding depth & definition. Definitely an accomplished piece of work, the vase is solid & heavy with no damage apart from a couple of nibbles on the base edge near the maker's stamp, that I suspect may have happened at manufacture - photo ten between 10 & 11 o'clock. Measuring 36.5cm tall, 10cm diameter across the base, & 10.5cm diameter across the rim. Stamped on the base J K. I think. I have looked these initials up but can't find anyone who would have made something like this. I believe it dates to the mid to late twentieth century. Mid Century Large Studio Pottery Vase, Reds
