A wonderful quality French antique linen yarn sheet with embroidered floral pattern & white ladder work border. What is linen yarn? Linen is a strong, durable fiber from the flax plant. Around for thousands of years, this fiber is three times stronger than cotton & second in strength to silk. It's created by extracting the long cellulose fibers from the center of this tall thin plant. The sheet has Art Nouveau embroidered flowers between two white ladder work borders & smaller ladder work rows that separate each flower. White embroidered dots decorate the fabric between the ladder work rows. The monogram is embroidered in a very Art Deco style & reads P C The ladder work continues one third of the length down each side. in good laundered condition, this very large antique French sheet measures 242 cm x 310 cm.
