It should not be confused with Tazenakht. They might be also called Ait Ouaouzguite rugs. in this collection, Babakech provides a huge selection of vintage rugs handwoven by these tribes around the mid 20th century. These rugs are made of premium-quality of wool, with a unique design & color palettes, mostly earthy. Each rug is a one of a kind masterpiece, as these women do not have a specific design to follow, they get creative by adding meaningful symbols & sometimes they even add Amazighen letters to enhance the story they are telling in their rugs, a story that is known only by the women who made them. They usually dye them using natural elements such as Henna, saffron... Taznakht rugs are more than just rugs, they are history being told by pure Amazighen craftspeople. Add a warm, nostalgic touch to your space. Vintage rugs refer to rugs that are retro. These rugs were mostly woven around mid 20th century, specifically during the 70s, therefore; they hold a lot of nostalgic vibes in them. Moroccan rugs became popular in the West thanks to mid-century modern designers. Le Corbusier is one of the designers who combined the thick Amazigh pile with their own designs. Most of these rugs are Beni Ouarain rugs handwoven by local women, using different palette colors & different shapes & designs that were inspired by their own real-life stories. Their primitive touch was a reason for designers to integrate them in their modern creations. Thus, these vintage Moroccan rugs are a perfect addition for a modernist style.
