A gorgeous orange/red fire coloured Authentic Vintage Berber Rug handmade by the tribes in the high Atlas Mountains of Morocco. The dimensions of this lovely rug are 2m x 3.15m. It is handwoven by the local women of the Taznakht area. The rug was made in the 1980's, 100% original, vintage & one of a kind, made from high quality wool from the local sheep, & natural dies including saffron to achieve the vibrant fire orange/red colour. This unique handmade rug uses symbols & pictures which tell a story about their creators thoughts & feelings & their way of life, & generally take 3/4 women around 6-9 months of solid work to create this kind of masterpiece, where they all specialise in various areas of the process. You will not find another rug like this anywhere because the Berber women do not base their work on a pre-intended plan or drawing, & their creative inspirational ideas have been passed down from many generations. The center of this rug shows a picture of a jewellery broach, & the other 6 smaller images are other pieces of jewellery, which would have been loved & provided inspiration to the women weavers. Its handwoven process using 100% natural wool, provides the quality & softness & is perfect for both indoor & outdoor uses.
