On offer is this lovely vintage spoon. It's in good condition overall, the silver plating shines up well still - light scuffs & scratches commensurate with age. The enameling is also in good order however there is a notable large section of blue enamel missing (chipped off at some stage) but as shown all adding to the aged charm & character of the piece. It's of traditional form, the handle has been decorated with an applied enamel-on-copper plaque showing the house flag for the Union Castle Line & also "RmmV Athlone Castle" - a Royal Mail Motor Vessel built in the late 1930's. During the Second World War it served as a troopship & in 1946 returned to the mail run & continued until 1965 when it was retired & unfortunately sold for scrap. Unmarked for a maker, Sheffield produced, circa mid 20th century. It measures a charming 13.3cm (5 & 1/4 inches) in length & despite the condition issues raised is ready to be collected & enjoyed once again! FREE postage on this item - Royal Mail tracked & insured.
