Andalusian (Spanish) Mediterranean Handmade Artisan Rustic Style Reversible Rug |RARE & Unique |Made from Recycled Materials. Chose from two sizes: 170cm x 240cm or 120cm x 170cm & approx. 1.5 cm thick Colour: Cream with brown, cream & beige stripes. These thick loomed rugs are made by artisans in a small locality in Lorca, Andalusia, Spain. The artisans are following a 1,000 year old rug making tradition which originates with the Moors. These unusual rugs are machine washable & are benefit from being hard-wearing & practical because they are reversible. They have a deep weave & are soft to the touch yet hard wearing & are ideal for natural floors such as terracotta & wooden, giving warmth & comfort. Made to a high-quality standard these rugs, made from recycled materials, are only available in very limited quantities because of the time it takes to make each rug & the small capacity of the workshop where the rugs are made. Please note no two rugs are the same because each one is completely individual & handmade - colour variations therefore do apply & please be aware that your rug may have a slight colour variation from the photograph. This unique style of weaving rugs from recycled cotton & other material off-cuts has developed in isolation & is different to any other we've come across. Each rug is skilfully handcrafted in Andalusia (Spain) using the traditional methods that have been handed down from generation to generation. This means each rug is individually made. The art of rug making was originally brought to Spain by the Moors around the 10th century & this style of rug making developed in the villages of Andalusia. With bitterly cold winters in the mountains the rugs provided warmth & comfort in the tiny village houses that were otherwise pretty spartan.
