French Antique Saurreguemines Serving Bowl - French Antique Soup Tureen, Lovely Footed Tureen, White Ribbed Top, Top Knot Handle - all hand painted as was the case in the early 1900s for fine dinnerware. A really lovely design of creamy white with pink & red trim... Soup was the traditional meal at dinnertime for generations in France...usually a convivial affair, all seated together, sharing the events of the day....this bowl perhaps accompanied some of the wealthier families in France- owing to the expense of high quality porcelain, like Saurreguemines. . Size: Bowl measures approx 8 inches wide & with the two handles it extends out another 2 inches. From the footed bottom to the top of the handle it measures approx 7 wide. There is age, as you can see in the dark areas near the feet....this is not dirt. A little crazing, but overall it is very beautiful for its age.
