Have nothing in your home that you don't know to be useful or believe to be beautiful William Morris c1827 Coalport Pembroke Shape Porcelain Cup & Saucer finely hand painted with gold butterfly, gold & red florets on white ground. Gadrooned borders. Hand painted with pattern number 944 on the base. Coalport was one of the leading Potters of iconic designs in the 19th & 20th century. The Pottery emerged around the 1800 in Shropshire. Staffordshire along with other leading Potteries such as Minton, Spode, Davenport & many others. Considering the age, this stunning duo is in great condition. Some loss of the gilding to commensurate with the age. Light crazing under the glaze of the saucer. Please study the photos carefully. The dimensions are 5 7/8 wide for the saucer & 3 7/8 wide, 2 tall for the cup. This magnificent collection belonged to an expert of 1750 - 1900 British Potteries, which he lovingly collected, catalogued & researched for over 50 + years.
