This is a stunning Jopeko Keramik 'Paris' oil lamp, West Germany circa early 1970s. A fantastic piece in the 'Fat Lava' style, featuring the 'Paris' decor, with its crusty glazes in shades of grey, brown & cream. The rough pumice-like glazes are very sculptural & complex, influenced by studio pottery during the era, with its influences ranging from the organic & natural to the prehistoric & space age. An unusual piece, the form is of an oil lamp shaped like a squat teapot. Could be used as an ikebana vase or as a display piece. Would be great as part of a collection of West German, Fat Lava or European Art Pottery, & would make a fantastic addition to any retro, vintage, 60s, 70', midcentury, modernist, brutalist, space age, minimal or contemporary interior. in excellent condition.
