An exceptional, fine & impressive, rare set of twelve antique Victorian English sterling silver tot mugs - boxed; an addition to our range of wine & drink related silverware These exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver mugs/tot cups have a tapering cylindrical form. The surface of each solid silver mug is encircled with two fine & impressive broad bands of tooled decoration, in addition to the contemporary bright cut engraved crest of a spur erect between two wings. The upper rim of each mug is encompassed with a plain applied moulded border. Each mug is fitted with a plain C shaped handle, with tapering sockets. The underside of each mug bears the retailer's mark 'Hunt & Roskell'. These exceptional mugs retain the original gilded interiors. These twelve impressive antique silver drinking tots are fitted to the impressive hinged wood presentation box with satin & velvet lined interior. The interior of the box bears the retailer's mark 'Hunt & Roskell, Late Storr & Mortimer, London'. These exceptional boxed antique silver mugs/tots were crafted by the renowned & important London silversmiths Robert Roskell, Alan Roskell & John Mortimer Hunt. Such original examples are rare & becoming increasingly difficult to locate. Condition Theseboxed antique silver mugs are an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality & in exceptional presentation condition. The box has been professionally polished by a cabinet maker & is in presentation condition. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of each mug are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the superior gauge of silver.
