This one-of-a-kind rug is hand-woven in Morocco & it is made from Cactus Silk, obtained from Saharan Aloe Vera Cactus. It's made by crushing the spiky leaves & soaking them in water to separate the fibers & filaments, then they are washed & dried & spun to make silk threads. To ensure the fabric is as natural as possible, threads are dyed using all-natural dyes like saffron. Dying the threads is a very long process, but when it is completed the colors bright & beautiful. Cactus Silk rugs are woven on traditional weaving looms by hand so each rug is different, natural variations in color & ancient motifs, minor flaws & imperfections are characteristic of these materials.
