With their peeling, layered history and urgent, covert messages walls represent a fascinating and tangible record of the passage of time. Beyond their functional familiarity they provide an emotional palette that resonate with the complexities of communication and memory. In the 'Writing on the Wall' series I have responded to the bold visuals of street language and it's contrastingly obscure messages. From pre-history to the present day new 'tags' replace old as the primal urge of human beings compelled to 'make their mark' persists.
