The footrest lifts as the back reclines, and lowers as the back lifts up again. The rise and recline action of this chair means it can lift up and tilt forward to gently guid you to your feet, helping you move independently if this kind of movement is more difficult for you. It also helps you to sit back down by lowering gently from this standing position.
