The outer polycarbonate shell is tough and durable, fending off the knocks and scrapes of regular cycling. And this is directly moulded to a shock-absorbing EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) inner. Together they protect the head in a fall but remain light in weight so you'll barely notice it. You then have the addition of the brain-protecting MIPS-C2® system.What is MIPS-C2®?The Multi-directional Impact Protection System (MIPS) is a proven system that reduces the rotational forces on the brain when you're involved in a crash. The Downtown is able to slide relative to the head in the case of a crash and as a result, the forces are absorbed and redirected to prevent them from being transmitted to the brain. In the event of a fall, the MIPS equipped helmet provides up to a 10% improvement in protection from certain impacts. This system sits unobtrusively between the comfort padding and EPS core, boosting protection without effecting comfort or adding unwieldy bulk. Comfortably CoolSo safety is first-rate but comfort is also outstanding. Central to that is a large number of vents, 17 in total, and in combination with internal channels ensure cool air can flow easily over your head. You'll certainly arrive at your destination feeling fresh. Inside, the 360-degree head belt provides a secure fit but prevents pressure points that would otherwise cause discomfort. This is adjusted by the Safe-T Twist 2 Fit System - a twist of the rear dial giving quick and easy adjustment.
