Peter Wright, who was trained by the world's most famous vet, James Herriot, now runs his old mentor's practice in Thirsk. His former partner, Julian Norton, works just down the road in Boroughbridge. Mixed practices are becoming increasingly rare but, assisted by their dedicated teams of vets and nurses, Peter and Julian's work involves caring for a variety of farm animals, popular and exotic pets as well as wildlife. They also encounter plenty of colourful characters, from children caring for their first pets to straight talking Yorkshire farmers, as they continue to follow the Herriot tradition, treating all creatures great and small.
