The curves of these lightweight hoops form the letter S. The two hoops are mirrored so that the S shape is flipped on the right ear. In Ancient Egypt the letter S was spiritually symbolic of the sacred serpents of Isis, the "double-wise" goddess. She is usually depicted with two serpents, one on either side, to represent the duality of nature. Serpentine; Resembling a serpent in form or movement. Winding sinuously. Subtly wily or tempting. Each piece of the Serpentine Collection features its signature coiled imprint which wraps itself around the jewellery. This fragile texture is inspired by ancient Roman and Etruscan craftsmanship, where twisted silver and gold wire were used to create intricate forms for jewellery. Made from recycled solid sterling silver. Our sterling silver and vermeil are strong and durable metals that can be worn daily with no need to keep removing your items. They can both naturally scratch over time but won't appear dull. If your items are kept in your jewellery boxes for a longer period of time it's natural for tarnish to appear. This can easily be removed with a soft polishing cloth or silver dip. These metals are hypoallergenic and don't contain nickel.
