Description
This exquisite gift set contains a 500ml bottle of Comte de Grasse's 44°N Gin and a matching candle scented with rose centifolia, one of the key botanicals used in the spirit's distillation process. The result is perfumed perfection and a sensory experience like no other. 44°N Gin is like having the Cote d'Azur on the tip of your tongue. Evocative of sunny holidays by the Mediterranean in the South of France, it was crafted using all the finest herbs and botanicals that Provence has to offer. There are peppery and truffle-like alexander seeds, salty samphire, lemony verbena, geranium-scented rose centifolia, cade (the French name for wild juniper), bitter orange, floral mimosa, grapefruit, Sichuan pepper that boosts the rose and juniper, immortelle (a Mediterranean scrub that delivers hay and fig notes), jasmine and lavender, not to mention angelica, orris root, honey and five other mystery ingredients. Originally launched in the UK exclusively through Harvey Nichols, this is a simply astounding gin. The nose offers zingy citrus, while the maritime influence from the samphire suggests sea breezes blowing across garrigue and pine forests. In the mouth, there are notes of pepper, marmalade, wildflowers and jasmine that lead on to a sweet, musky finish. With such an array of aromatics, it's hard to know whether to dab it on as a perfume or mix it into a gin and tonic. Either way, this is a masterpiece and sure to become the must-have gin for true connoisseurs. Comte de Grasse was born out of a desire to produce sustainable luxury spirits. Located in Grasse on the French Riviera, they cannot help but be inspired - as the bottle shape and the incredible aromatics allude to - by the rich heritage of the world's capital of perfume. Surrounded by Provençal herbs growing wild on the Côte d'Azur and fresh breezes off the turquoise sea, they found an old perfumery laying empty and set to work. What they created is more a laboratory than a distillery, using cutting edge science such as "CO₂ Supercritical Extraction", "Ultrasonic Maceration" and "Cold Vacuum Distillation", that are as baffling as they sound, Comte de Grasse capture the delicate perfume of Provence. As you have already probably guessed their first gin - 44°N Gin - is named after the latitude on which Grasse sits.£15 per 100.00ml
